I've just been soloing the Gates of Kryta mission since Winstersday last year. 10+ stacks of Decayed Orr Emblems all ready to go. I normally get about 12-20 emblems per trip. As well as about 1.2k in gold after I merchant all the other drops.

Its an easy way to make money find the odd good item and can be done almost anywhere.

I made it to 100k just on shing jea island the Factions start area.
I used to make 3 or 4 farming runs each day before starting to play the game missions.
Doesn't take too long or get that boring if you spread it out over a few weeks.

Last year, the Hallowe'en event was held in Lion's Arch and Kamadan. I would expect it to be held in the same cities this year, though there is the possibility that they may add the event to one of the new cities in the EN zones as well.

Lots of people have answered your question. You're just not paying attention.

1) There are CONSUMABLE items that you can get from collectors. These have been the same for the past 2 years. Witch's Brew, Absinthe, Ghost-in-a-box, sqaush serum, transmogrifier (candy corn) tonics. These have various short-term effects, and you can look it up in the wiki here for last year's items. The collectors are likely to be the same for this year:

2) On Halloween Eve, October 31, the main event will occur every 2 hours from 12:01 AM PST Oct 31 to 12:01 AM PST Nov 1, (24 hours,) in Lion's Arch and Kamadan (Prophesies and Nightfall.) During the event, you will be awarded a special Festival Headgear. These Headgear are non-tradable, as they are customized to your account. They are different every year, and you will only be able to get this year's headgear. It is likely that you will ONLY be able to get the headgear on that day (by playing Mad King Thorn Says during the event,) as that has been how the past two years have gone. If you can't play during those 24 hours on the 31st, you're out of luck.

3) Since you only have Factions, you will not be able to participate in the main event on Halloween. You'll need to go buy Nightfall or Prophesies and get your character to either Kamadan or Lion's Arch.

that is unfair in many ways. why should only certain games have it and why is it only halloween night! it should at least last till the next day!

Prophesies and Nightfall are by far the most popular chapters. Most people playing this game have at least those two. There are other events (like Canthan New Year) that are Factions-only. That's the way the cookie crumbles.
(By the way, the Christmas event also only happened in Lion's Arch and Kamadan as well, as of last year. I'd suggest you pick one of those chapters up.)

As for it being "only" Halloween night, the event lasts a full 24 hours. How much more do you want? Even if you're working/going to school during the day, you should be able to log in that evening and attend an event.

It was already mentioned Canthan New Year wasn't Factions only. Prophecies and Nightfall did have something which I believe was a better return than the Factions npcs had on tokens. They (Anet) either dislike Factions or believe the vocal popularity.

This is another way to get consumers to be interested in or buy other campaigns, exclusivity. Too bad Cantha still gets the short end of things.

Mentioned in another thread, sure. Actually, the New Year finale EVENT was only in Cantha. The pig only appeared in Shing Jea Monastery. There were minor things happening in the other lands. Then there's the Dragon Festival, which actually was Cantha-Only. That's not really the issue here.

Point is, there are chapter-specific celebrations. If you want to participate, you go buy the chapter.
